EnBlue™ Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) - 1000 Litres (AdBlue)
-
Composition: DEF is primarily composed of urea and deionized water. The typical mixture consists of approximately 32.5% high-purity urea and 67.5% deionized water. This precise composition is crucial for the effectiveness of the SCR system in reducing nitrogen oxide emissions.
-
Purity: DEF is manufactured to meet strict purity standards. The urea used in DEF production is of high purity to ensure optimal performance and prevent contamination of the SCR catalyst. Similarly, the water used is deionized to remove impurities that could potentially harm the SCR system.
-
Function: When injected into the exhaust stream of diesel engines, DEF undergoes a chemical reaction with nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the presence of a catalyst (typically a vanadium-based catalyst). This reaction converts NOx into harmless nitrogen (N2) and water vapor (H2O), significantly reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides, which are major contributors to air pollution and smog.
